The Ohio Division of Wildlife has funded the work on a comprehensive guide to Ohio's freshwater mussels. A joint effort between Dr. Michael Hoggarth (Otterbein College), Dr. David Stansbery (OSU), and Dr. Thomas Watters (OSU), the book will include full page color photos of specimens as well as photos of beak sculpture and the hinge. Each species will have a complete synonymy, species description, habitat, potential hosts, and comparison with similar species. Dot maps will indicate the recent and historical ranges of each species. Published by the Ohio State University Press. Available now.
