Spectra of NGC 5548
- UV - 1989 IUE Campaign
- Data: GEX-extracted IUE data from 1989 campaign
[complete set (.tar.gz)
450kB, 205 spectra]
[Select individual spectra ]
- References: Clavel et al. 1991, ApJ, 366, 64
[Abstract]
- Format of Data: FITS format one-dimensional images.
The file containing the complete set is a compressed (with gzip)
tar file that must be unpacked.
- Additional Notes: These are resampled versions of the
original GEX-extracted data. File names are n5xxxxuyy.fits,
where xxxx = four least significant figures in the Julian Date,
and yy can be any of the following: s = SWP spectrum,
s1 = first of two SWP spectra taken that date, s2=second of
two SWP spectra taken that date, l = LWP spectrum,
v = joined SWP (all for that date) and LWP spectra. Note that
the structure at the short-wavelength end of the LWP exposures
(from about 1950 - 2400 Å) is an artifact of the resampling
in wavelength, and should be ignored.
- UV - 1993 HST Campaign
- Data: NEWSIPS-extracted IUE data from 1993 campaign
[complete set (.tar.gz)
204kB, 39 spectra]
[Select individual spectra ]
- References: Korista et al. 1995, ApJS, 97, 285
[Abstract]
- Format of Data: ASCII (plain text) format three-column
tables with 2-line header:
- Column 1: Wavelength (Å)
- Column 2: Flux in ergs s-1
cm-2 Å-1
- Column 3: Uncertainty in flux, same units
The file containing the complete set is a compressed (with gzip)
tar file that must be unpacked.
- Additional Notes: Names of spectra contain SWP image
number (see Table 2A of Korista et al.).
- UV - 1993 HST Campaign
- Data: HST FOS from 1993 campaign
[complete set in FITS format (.tar.gz)
643kB, 40 spectra]
[complete set in ASCII (plain text)
format (.tar.gz)
1463kB, 39 spectra]

[Select individual spectra, ASCII format ]

[Abstract]
- Format of Data:
- ASCII (plain text) format three-column
tables with 2-line header:
- Column 1: Wavelength (Å)
- Column 2: Flux in ergs s-1
cm-2 Å-1
- Column 3: Uncertainty in flux, same units
- FITS format one-dimensional spectra.
The file containing the complete set is a compressed (with gzip)
tar file that must be unpacked; this also contains the mean FOS
spectrum shown in Figure 5 of Korista et al. Spectra are
ergs s-1 cm-2 Å-1 versus
wavelength (Å).
- Additional Notes: File names are n5xxxxx.fits for
FITS format or n5xxxxx.lis for ASCII format,
where xxxxx = five least significant figures in the Julian Date.
- Original optical spectra, 1989 - 2001
Note: Years 9 and 12 were inadvertently missing from
this archive. This has now been corrected,
as of 17 October 2002. Thanks to
Mira and Philippe Véron for catching this error.
- Data: Original optical spectra from many sources

[Abstract]
- Format of Data: FITS format one-dimensional images.
The file containing the complete set is a compressed (with gzip)
tar file that must be unpacked.
- Additional Notes: File names are n5xxxxyy.fits,
where xxxx = four least significant figures in the Julian Date,
yy is a code that indicates the origin of the data (see the
Log of Observations in the papers listed above). Data are highly
inhomogeneous, but should be readable with iraf task rfits.
- Revised selected optical spectra (1989-1996)
- Data: High-quality optical spectra from selected sources

[Abstract]
[Erratum]
[Corrected Tables]
- Format of Data: compressed tar file. The individual spectra
are three-column ASCII (plain text) files:
- Column 1: Wavelength (Å)
- Column 2: Flux in 10-14 ergs s-1
cm-2 Å-1
- Column 3: Uncertainty in flux, same units
- Additional Notes: This is a high-quality subset of
nearly homogeneous data, scaled in flux with the van Groningen-Wanders
method, as described in the paper. This subset was culled from the
large data base for study of the Hbeta profile.
- Revised selected Hbeta profiles
- Data: High-quality optical spectra from selected sources
(as above, but with continuum and narrow lines subtracted)
[complete set (.tar.gz)
427kB, 247 spectra]

[Abstract]
[Erratum]
[Corrected Tables]
- Format of Data: compressed tar file. The individual spectra
are three-column ASCII (plain text) files:
- Column 1: Wavelength (Å)
- Column 2: Flux in arbitrary wavelength (F-lambda) units
- Column 3: Uncertainty in flux, same units
- Additional Notes: This is a high-quality subset of
nearly homogeneous data, scaled in flux with the van Groningen-Wanders
method, as described in the paper. This subset was culled from the
large data base for study of the Hbeta profile. These data have the
underlying continuum (a linear fit) subtracted, and the narrow
components have been removed as well.
