About the Event
The common theme of the conference and workshop “Democracy, the State and Protest: International Perspectives on Methods for the Study of Protest” is the relationship between protest behavior and democracy, with emphasis on measurement of key concepts and on methodology for comparative and cross-national research. The conference, on May 11, features invited speakers presenting different approaches to studying protest and democracy. On the following day, workshop-style panel discussions with the presenters, graduate students and junior scholars focus on opportunities and limitations inherent in different methods, to provide an overview of the methodological repertoire in this research area.
The event is organized by The Mershon Center for International Security Studies, OSU, in collaboration with Cross-national Studies: Interdisciplinary Research and Training program (CONSIRT), OSU-Polish Academy of Sciences.
