Assignment 2

Part 1: Algorithmic Behavior Design

  • Individually devise a score that allows for audience participation/interaction with performers. The audience may be the performers or they may be observers or both.
  • The score should be written out for distribution and discussion afterwards
  • As in the previous assignment, the entire group should be involved in the interaction, but you can choose how you control performer/audience relationships and roles.
  • This time, apply all the concepts we used and discussed in our Algorithmic Behavior Workshop Thursday.
  • Write how your score implements, applies, and/or relates to each concept.
  • Discuss how each feature of your score (drawing from the concepts above) requires a "human-in-the-system" or whether/why/how you think that function could likely be implemented with technology.
  • Present your writing and score, supporting images, etc online after we've performed the scores in class. Post the URL to your documentation on our wiki (by noon the day after the presentation.)
Part 2: Interactive System Sketch
  • propose a system that would embody our topic triangle of interactive technology, performance, and the body
  • doesn't have to be anything you could implement, but has to be possible for someone, given a bucket money
  • Write how your system implements, applies, and/or relates to each concept.
  • Discuss how each feature of your system (drawing from the concepts above) requires a "human-in-the-system" or whether/why/how you think that function could likely be implemented with technology.
  • Present your writing and system, supporting images, etc online.
