LUNCH: End of Conference | ||
Bus leaves for the hotel at 12:00 noon and 12:20pm |
The conference is supported in part by the MRI (Math Research Institute of OSU), the IMA (Institute for Mathematics and its Applications) and the NSA (National Security Agency).
The conference will be held on the campus of the Ohio State University in the Math Annex (EA) next to the Mathematics Tower (MW), in Journalism (JR), and in the University Hall (UH). See maps below:
There are a block of rooms reserved for the conference at the University Plaza Hotel, 3110 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, Ohio, 43202. Tel (toll free in the US):1-877-677-5292, (also) 614-267-7461; fax: 614-267-3978. For reservations mention The conference on Algebraic Cycles: price $69 per room. (If you are overseas, we suggest faxing your reservation to the hotel.) This is a special rate available only if you are part of the conference.
The hotel has arranged a free bus service to campus in the mornings and from campus at the end of talks each day. (The bus times are listed above.) This is in addition to a good shuttle service to campus and also to and from the airport. (The walking distance from the hotel to the campus is about 2 miles.) Please make your reservations as early as possible so that the supply and demand of rooms at the hotel can be kept in balance.
You may also take a look at the following more or less complete list of hotels and motels in the general campus area. We have to warn you though, that the rates listed there may or may not be the same as what you may be able to obtain.
We will be able to provide support towards accomodation for a limited number of graduate students and post docs.
There is a registration fee of $30.00 for attending the conference, which includes the price for a dinner on Friday night. This will be collected in Room 724 (the lounge) of the Math Tower before talks on December 1. (Only cash or checks accepted.)
Lunch. If you stay at the University Plaza Hotel, you have the option of ordering a box-lunch that they will deliver to Mw 724 around noon. The menu for this will be in the welcome packet you receive from the hotel when you check in. The other option is to go to restaurants either on campus (there is one near the book-store "Oxleys") or on High Street ("Brennans", "Brueggers" ) which provide sandwiches or some Chinese restaurants on High Street. It has to be pointed out that these places are usually crowded around lunch time (especially on Friday).
You can park in the OSU stadium lot (at Cannon Dr. and Woody Hayes Dr.) for free. Parking closer may result in a ticket.
From the stadium walk east past the bookstore and cross Neil Ave to 18th Ave, MW and EA will be on your right.
