Special Sessions

Several special mini-symposia are planned for this year's meeting. Robert W. Field (MIT), and Richard Dixon, University of Bristol are organizing a mini-symposium entitled "Dynamics from Spectra: Beyond Frequency/Time Complementarity" which will focus on the different sorts of insights into molecular dynamics obtainable from frequency- and time-domain spectroscopic measurements. Invited speakers will include: Mark Child, Oxford University; Gustav Gerber, Universitat Wurzberg; and Albert Stolow, National Research Council of Canada. A second mini-symposium is being organized by Stewart Novick, Wesleyan University, on the subject of "Spectroscopic Freeware." Talks will describe non-commercial, freely available software useful for the collection, analysis, interpretation, and referenceing of molecular spectra. Invited speakers for this mini-symposium include: Jens-Uwe Grabow, Universitat Hannover; and David Plusquellic, NIST. A third mini-symposium is being organized by Richard Saykally, University of California at Berkeley on "Clusters Containing Water." The symposium will work on both neat water clusters and clusters containing both water and other molecules. Invited speakers include Udo Buck, Max-Planck Institut; Claude Leforestier, Universite Montpellier; and Mark Johnson, Yale University. A session on theory is being organized by Russell Pitzer, Ohio State University, featuring a talk by Sotiris Xantheas, Pacific Northwest National Lab.
