Firmware Upgrade

Web Configuration Utility Method

The tftp client and/or server can not handle a disk specification in the path.
So the transfer will not succeed unless you do the following:

  1. First make sure the TFTP server is running on the PC (view of PumpKIN server).

  2. Set the TFTP server's filesystem root to the desired drive (and optionally folder) (see the PumpKIN server options menu).

    Example:  D:   or    D:\bylsma

  3. Connect to the switch through your web browser.

  4. Save your configuration: Management -> Utilities -> Save Config

  5. Navigate to Management -> Utilities -> File Transfer

  6. Set the following options:
Note: Specify the path relative to the TFTP server's root directory.

    Transfer Type Download to Switch
File Type Code (ver 3) or Firmware (ver 5)
TFTP Server IP Address 192.128.10.10 (example)
    TFTP File Path bylsma\DOWNLOAD\Netgear
    TFTP File Name gsm7212-5.0.2.1.opr
  1. Check the "Start File Transfer" box.
  2. Click the "Submit" button.
  3. You can watch the transfer in the TFTP server window.

  4. When the transfer is complete, the switch will check the CRC and save the new firmware to FLASH memory.

  5. The whole process takes several minutes.

  6. When complete, reboot the switch: Management -> Utilities -> System Restart

  7. When the reboot finishes, click the "refresh" button on your browser.

  8. Verify the new firmware version: Management -> System -> Information.
