CURRENT RESEARCH
For my current research, I am studying the dependence of the optical properties
of polyaniline nanofibers on their oxidation state.
As a quasi-1D system, the reflection and absorption properties of polyaniline
can change dramatically due to oxidation-reduction reactions. This effect can
be used to make optical biosensors that can detect the presence and
concentration of target analytes. A major goal of
this research is the development of a continuous in vivo glucose monitor that could display blood sugar levels in
real time.
