Girls Reaching to Achieve in Sports & Physics (GRASP)

2013 GRASP Activities - Thursday (Science Day) June 6 & 20

  Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday

In the morning, the group walked over to south campus to the Greenhouse and Insectary.
As a defense mechanism, this plant wilts when touched.
At the insectary, the campers learned about various insects. Pictured is our brave camp counselor, Anastasia Lawson, holding a hissing cockroach.
An Australian walking stick is saying hello to one of the campers.
In the afternoon, the girls participated in a chemistry demo show, hosted by Dr. Nancy Santagata (not pictured) and the OSU Chemistry demo group.
Members of OSU's Center for Cosmology and AstroParticle Physics (CCAPP), Dr. John Beacom, Dr. Amy Connolly, and Dr. Todd Thompson, hosted an Astronomy Q&A session.
Before racing their magnetic cars, the campers voted on the best design.
Here, two campers are racing their magnetic cars. The builders of the fastest car and the best designed car won prizes!
