Girls Reaching to Achieve in Sports & Physics (GRASP)

2014 GRASP Activities - Wednesday June 11 & 18

  Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday

During the first GRASP Session, Dr. Shawna Hollen taught the girls about the physics of football. She is pictured left demonstrating why one must use speed to tackle a player. If she hits the board quickly, it will break. Instead, if she applies force over a long period of time, the board does not break.
During the second GRASP Session, Dr. Michael Lisa talked about the phsyics of football and is pictured here showing angular momentum in action.
After learning about projectile motion, the campers made their own catapults and used them to launch gummi bears.
After lunch, the campers met up with OSU football players who taught them the basics of football.
