Required Courses for Engineering Physics Majors

B.S. in Engineering Physics

The B.S. in Engineering Physics is the degree conferred by the College of Engineering. There is only one curriculum for students pursuing a major under this degree. The physics and math requirements for this degree are very similar to those of the B.S. in Physics Option A. In addition, the College of Engineering requires certain core courses as well as a coherent set of technical electives in a field of engineering. In effect, this provides a major in physics with a minor in engineering.

Core Requirements

Notes on Core Requirements:
  1. H131-2-3 (honors physics) is strongly recommended.
  2. Engineering physics students with technical electives in Electrical Engineering should substitute another 4-hour physics course at the 200 level or higher for Phys517.
  3. Or equivalent courses in the FEH Program

Specializations Options

As mentioned above, the technical electives in Engineering physics are grouped in a coherent sequence of 10 specializations, according to the particular sub-field. The specializations are:
