Rules and Suggestions for Lab and Recitation

Lab

1) Be prepared!!

          a) Read the experiment carefully BEFORE coming to lab.

          b) Make notes to yourself &/or highlight things in the lab manual.

          c) Prepare your lab notebook before lab.

          d) Pay attention to the TA instructions at the beginning of lab.

2) Work by yourself - NO group projects unless the TA directs you to do so.

3) For the notebook, be neat. If you make a mistake simply put a line through it and write the correct

result next to it. Do not black out the mistake by coloring over it with your pen.

    This applies to the notebook.

4) No group projects on lab report quizzes, unless directed by the manual or syllabus. They must be your individual work even if your data was collected in a group.

Recitation and Quizzes

1) Attendance will be taken. You will sign in. See the syllabus for more details.

2) Come prepared.

          a) Ask questions about lecture, homework, etc. However, you should have ~90% of your

questions answered before recitation. This time is for clearing up a few things you still

aren’t quite sure about, not learning things for the first time.

          b) You should send your questions to your TA by the night before recitation. The TA will tell

you what format they require (Word, Google Doc, etc.)

          c) If you don't have questions about homework or lecture please sit patiently and quietly and

listen. Don’t make derogatory comments about other’s questions or comments.

3) Quizzes - On Carmen

          a) The quizzes will be available 7-10 PM on Sundays. They are approximately 30 min. quizzes for

which you will have 40 min to take them. See the syllabus for the schedule.
