Rules and Suggestions for Lab and Quizzes

Lab

1) Be prepared!!

           a) Read the experiment carefully BEFORE coming to lab (whether in person or online).

           b) Make notes to yourself &/or highlight things in the lab manual.

           c) Prepare your lab notebook before lab.

           d) Pay attention to the video at the beginning of lab and prelab.

2) Work by yourself - NO group projects unless the TA directs you to do so.

3)  Be neat. If you make a mistake simply put a line through it and write the correct result next

to it. Do not use whiteout or black out the mistake by coloring over it with your pen. This applies

to both the notebook and lab report.

4) No group projects on lab reports. They must be your individual work even if your data was

     collected in a group.

5) 3 lab periods will be used for Reviews. You can ask questions about lecture material or lab.

You will get 30 pts for each review as part of the lab score.

Quizzes

1)  There will be quizzes in Carmen pretty much weekly on Sunday evenings starting on Jan 23. See page 7 of the syllabus for the complete schedule and description. The quiz the weekend of Easter is on the following Monday.

2) The quizzes should take about 30 minutes but you’ll have 40 minutes for each quiz.

3)  Quiz window is 7-10:00 PM EST. You must begin no later than 9:20 to get the full 40 minutes since the quiz ends at 10 PM. You can’t submit after that.

4)  Make sure you have a good stable internet connection. Don’t use the Canvas (Carmen) app. I suggest using Chrome or Firefox.

6)  No late quizzes will be accepted and no credit given if submitted late. We won’t accept answers via e-mail.

7)  NO make-up quizzes.. We drop the 3 lowest quiz scores. If you miss a quiz for any reason it counts as one of the drops.
