Type locality: Head of Chester River, Maryland.
Range: Nanticoke, Chester, and Potomac to Pamlico River systems.
Remarks: Fisheriana is similar to producta and occupies nearly the same range. Producta is more rounded posteriorly, often resembling a Ligumia, and the posterior point is usually midway between the dorsal and ventral margins. The posterior point in fisheriana is usually below the midline. The dorsal ridge of producta is rounded whereas it is angled in fisheriana.
Northern populations are thinner and more elongate than those from the south. The nacre may be purple or white.
