Elliptio sp.

1-2. Fisheating Creek, Highlands Co., FL - 1: 53 mm; 2: 57 mm

Range: Fisheating Creek, Lake Okeechobee system.

Remarks: This is a very distinct species, easily separated from buckleyi. Both species are sympatric in Fisheating Creek, a swampy tributary of Lake Okeechobee. Of the nearly 1,200 specimens of "buckleyi"-like material examined, this species was only found in Fisheating Creek. It is most similar to Unio webbiana Wright, 1934, from the distant Oklawaha and Withlacoochee Rivers.
