Type locality: Lake Consuelo, near Floral City, Citrus Co., Florida.
Range: Oklawaha River and lake district of Withlacoochee River.
Remarks: This peculiar species is sympatric with buckleyi but easily separated from it. Webbiana is complanate and brightly rayed until it reaches its full adult size, when it becomes more inflated and lacks rays. The nacre varies from white to light purple to a peculiar orange color. Sympatric buckleyi are heavy, rayless, and rather darkly colored with a light purple nacre.
Specimens from the Oklawaha River are heavier, more inflated, and less rayed than those from the numerous lakes that interdigitate between the Oklawaha and Withlacoochee Rivers.
