Module 2 presents a historical timeline of events in the history of East Asia. This unit introduces important events in the history and cultural development of East Asia from the perspective of each area: China, Korea, and Japan. Each section begins with a discussion of basic themes in the history of the cultural area, then outlines and details important events and cultural developments throughout history. The goal of this module is to present a more thorough portrait of each area, highlighting trends, events, historical figures, and timeframes that are useful in understanding each culture independently, and how each culture contributes to the idea of East Asia as a whole.
