Monday 10:05am-12:05pm and by appointment (via email), 425 Cockins Hall.

Textbook

The textbook is Statistical Inference by George Casella and Roger L. Berger. Hard copy has been reserved in the library.

Course requirements and grading

Requirements:

  • Weekly homework assignments. All assignments are due by 12:00 noon on the date specified. NO late homework will be accepted. Instead, your lowest homework grade will be dropped from the final homework average. You are encouraged to work in small groups, but you must write up your own homework to hand in. Homework will be graded on a scale of 0-10.

  • Two Midterm exams, tentativly scheduled on Friday, Sept. 25 and Friday, Oct. 30.

  • Final exam, tentativly scheduled on Monday, Dec. 12, 10:00am-11:45am.

Grading: homework 20%, midterm exam I 25%, midterm exam II 25%, final exam 30%

Prerequisites

Good knowledge of Multivariable calculus and a working knowledge of linear algebra.

Graduate standing in Statistics or Biostatistics, or permission from instructor. Not open to students with credit for STAT 610.
