The Elliptio complanata Group
Remarks: This is the most widespread group of eastern Elliptios, ranging from southeastern Canada to the eastern Gulf drainages (but absent from peninsular Florida). These include the large rhomboidal taxa, often laterally compressed, usually with a coarse periostracum.
The icterina Group is closely related to these species.
